World’s First Self Winding Cell Phone by Watchmaker Ulysse Nardin

by Michal on March 13, 2009

Celebrated Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin has gone above and beyond to create the world’s first hybrid smart phone known as the Chairman. There are limited details available about this one of a kind cell phone, but word is that it will be launching at the end of the month at the BaselWorld watch show. Ulysse Nardin has partnered with the European firm, SCI Innovations to craft this cell phone that is built like an expensive watch.

No more excuses that my phone died, because The Chairman uses a rotary kinetic winder mechanism to charge the battery. This phone won’t need a charge; this phone gets its charge from the movement of the phone, just like a self winding watch. In addition, this phone will be able to be used on any cell network in the world and will be equipped with features never seen on a smart phone before.

The price of the phone has not been mentioned yet, but one can expect it will have a hefty price tag just like Ulysse Nardin’s watches which start well into the thousands. So far there have only been a few pictures of the back of the phone that have been released. This sounds like one cell phone that will be worth the wait. You can check out the Ulysse Nardin website to see further details as they become available.
