This product really does fill a need in our multi-device electronic world. We seldom think about the phantom idle current our devices use when they are "off". Makes a lot of sense to use this. I got mine for my computer. Works perfectly straight out of the box. It also alerted me to an incorrectly wired outlet (hot and neutral lines were reversed). Corrected that by reversing black and white leads and now it shows the outlet working properly via the green Ground & Surge light being lit. Tested other outlets in my home to see if any others needed attention.

I was pretty skeptical about this product when I first ordered it, but decided to try it anyway. I had recently read online that an XBox wastes around $17/year a receiver around $35/year and a subwoofer more like $50! I got this, plugged the TV (42" LCD) into the sensed plug, the DVR into an always on plug and everything else into one of the slave plugs since I'm probably not going to watch a DVD or play XBox without the TV on. There is no unusual delay between when I hit the power button on the remote and when the TV and everything else turns on, its all pretty much instant, if I hadn't been so excited about getting this my wife wouldn't even know about it!(not that she really cared anyway) The layout of the plugs is nice, with 4 widely spaced plugs for transformer packs and all the grounds facing outward. I didn't have to fiddle with it at all, but there's an adjuster on the side if its not sensitive enough. I don't have any hard numbers for savings, but at least I feel like I'm doing my small part. My only complaint, however small it may be, is that the wall plug from this is angled for some reason. This might not be a problem with vertical wall receptacles, but mine are horizontal in the baseboard, so it sticks up and puts some strain on the whole plug and cord system and just generally annoys me. I would definitely recommend this and would would love to see some numbers before and after.

I have had the Smart Strip surge protector power strip for about six months now. It works exactly as advertised and shuts off peripheral devices when the primary device like a TV, is turned off. I wrote a review on my energy saving blog here: [...] Doing the math, at our current utility rate of 12 cents per kilowatt, the Smart Strip will pay for itself in only one year. I absolutely love this product. As someone who doesn't want to pay for excess energy, I used to have to reach behind my entertainment center to turn of the power strip. Now I simply turn off the TV and the rest of the system turns off automatically. I keep my cable DVR plugged into the "constant on" plug to keep the guide and programming up to date. I love how much the price has come down over time, but the only (minute) knock I have against this product is its price.

I bought this about a year ago and it worked well until my apartment building had an actual power surge--then, not so well. In my apartment, ever electric item that was plugged in and NOT on a powersurge protector was completely fried. My computer equipment, which was on a regular $8 surge protector was fine (although the surge protector was destroyed). Now, my TV equipment (Wii, stereo, playstation, etc) was not as good and this was on the Smart Strip. Although all appliances were off at the time of the surge, but television still made a popping sound and started to smoke. It is burned out. Most of the other appliances seem okay, but it is hard to check them when your apartment is being rewired and I don't have a TV to check it all. They all turn on, but the DVD player seems to overheat quickly. If you want to be eco-friendly and save energy, buy a regular powerstrip and just turn it off when you aren't using it. At least you won't have to put all your equipment in a landfill when your electricity has a freak problem!

is exactly what the product description says it is, an 8 outlet 3240j surge protector just plug it in, turn it on, and as long as your wall outlet is properly grounded (the green light will not turn on if it is not), you're protected transformer outlets have more than enough space between them child proof slide covers are stiff at first, but quickly loosen, i can't see these stopping any child over a year old unit itself is quite heavy and the cord is as thick as my little finger powers everything i plug into it fine, cant speak for the surge protection, hopefully ill never have to

I've owned 3 of these units -Tripp Lite 810NET surge protector - for several years now. A few weeks ago, an errant electrical surge came into our house. The Tripp Lite connected to my printer, modem, phone, and router -the only unit turned on at the time - caught the surge. Although the surge protector was fried all of the equipment connected to it was saved. Happy that the unit had done its job, I called Tripp Lite to see if this was, by chance, covered under the warranty. After asking a few basic questions and taking down my contact info, the Tripp Lite rep told me that a free replacement unit would be delivered in 7-10 days at no charge. True to his word, a unit arrived within a week. I couldn't be happier - the unit did the job as advertised, saved my equipment, and the warranty claim was honored with no fuss or problem whatsoever. I definitely recommend buying this product. It's a pleasure to do business with a company who stands behind its products and honors its promises.

After some review, I picked this surge protector for my new 54inch LCD TV. I found that it had sufficient receptacles for my needs, had a good price and was manufactured by reputable manufacturer. The true test of a surge protector is how it works when a surge occurs. Since we have not experienced one of these, I cannot speak to that. I'll write a further review should that happen. Right now, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I bought one of these about a month ago and liked it so much I just purchased another one. It is slim and easy to use. I especially like the 10 foot cord and the 12 outlets, six of which are for the large transformer plug-ins.

This is the third Belkin Surge Suppressor I have now purchased. The low profile design is really nice to have and the layout of the outlets really maximizes the number of devices you can have plugged into it. I really like having the 10' cord as well. Overall I'm very happy with the way these surge protectors look, though I wish that they would include RJ-45 ports on similar models. I haven't had any issues with surges, so I cannot say that this surge protector has saved anything, but I am certainly more comfortable with my devices plugged into it.

Have had now for a month. No issues to report. Easy to use and set up. I now have about 5 devices plugged in and all get sufficient power. Many more outlets available is always nice to have!

I have had a long streak of bad luck with Belkin surge protectors. This one was the same - the protector said that the outlet was not grounded, but it clearly was.

A good product. Neat and clean color coding and decent space between each of the slots. If you have big power cord heads then this may not be your choice. I have connected my cable, TV, receiver and modem.

i feel much safer knowing that Monster is backing up my electronics. This monster surge protector is just another example of their unsurpassed quality.

For anyone buying their first HDTV, I recommend buying the powercenter (and HDMI cables) on-line to save money. I bought the HTS 800 along with my first HDTV (Sharp 47" LCD). I decided on HTS 800 because it offered surge protection, it filtered out electronic noise, it had plenty of color coded outlets spaced apart, and it was much cheaper than similar products at the electronics stores. Prior to purchasing the HTS800, my old color TV and stereo system were plugged into a regular power strip. Whenever I would try to use the TV and stereo together, the stereo system would flash "surge" after a couple of minutes and turn off. I have had my HDTV and HTS800 for a month now, and I have had no problems. The TV picture is clear, I get great sound whenever I use my TV and stereo system together, and I don't get the "surge" warnings with my stereo anymore!

This surge protector/power conditioner was a steel at 35 $ the one at the store was WAY more expensive and didn't do the things this one does. Always go with amazon first !

Well I originally had this product once before. After about a year it just died. Luckily it didn't fry any of my equipment that I had plugged into it. But since I bought it off ebay the warranty wasn't good on it. Monster only excepts warranty claims from specific dealers that you bought the monster product from. So go to the monster website and look for a authorized dealer. Amazon is an authorized dealer. Hopefully this one lasts longer than the other. If not, at least I have a 5 year warranty to work with.
