Our bedroom is always a bit cold in the winter and hot in the summer. The reason is that it's located on the opposite end of the house from our furnace. For years I've tried to think of ways to improve the HVAC into our bedroom, and then I stumbled upon the AirFlow Breeze Register. With a built in fan, the AirFlow Breeze is designed to pump extra hot or cold air into whatever room you install the register.

By using the AirFlow Breeze, it may avoid cranking up the heat in the winter or air conditioner in the summer to heat or cool a difficult room. It has 3 fan settings: Fast Speed 100 cubic feet per minute (cfm), Medium Speed 70 cubic feet per minute (cfm), Slow Speed 40 cubic feet per minute (cfm). And with a built in temperature sensor, you can setting the desired temperature, and the fan will cycle off and on to maintain the temperature setting. Powered via a 6-foot power cord in matching color.

With the Vent Miser you can save on your energy bill by controlling which rooms of your house are heated or cooled based on whether they are in use or not. The Vent Miser is a programmable vent with a timer, that you set to open or close in individual rooms according to your needs. If you have a guest bedroom you can shut down the air flow to the room when it is unoccupied. This will maximize the efficiency of your heating and cooling system.

The Vent Miser is not the same thing as a programmable thermostat that automatically controls the temperature of your home. It is actually much simpler than that. With the Vent Mister you can install it yourself and it is battery operated. You just purchase the vent you need based on the measurements of your current vent and replace it yourself. The vents are universal with mounting options for ceiling, floors or walls. It operates on two AAA batteries and has a seven day programming cycle. The vents can be programmed to open or close twice a day. This is an easy way to save money and save on energy consumption.

It is reported that by using such a product as the Vent Miser, you can save 1/3 on your energy bill. You can also use the Vent Miser in addition to using a programmable thermostat. Using a programmable thermostat will allow you to control the temperature of your home, but it doesn't give you control over which rooms receive the air flow. If you already use a programmable thermostat you could consider using the Vent Miser as well to redirect the air flow to where it is needed.
