Reviews
I don't know why there are so many negative reviews for this receiver. I have all samsung products and I love them all. I just got it hooked up today and it was no problem to figure out. Even though it does not have a onscreen guide you can figure out the settings pretty easy. Have no problems with it working with my logitech 880. So far it surpasses my expectations.
After purchasing this nonsense because I purchased a 3DTV /w commensurate Samsung 3D Player I began hooking it up Visual looks 100% Functionality Zero ....... Amazon needs to implement a Stay Away Rating specifically for products like this I recently sold my RXV3900 located in my Den made by Yamaha and was looking for a receiver that had 1.4A capabilities etc I stumbled upon this - Every receiver I have ever hooked up for a friend or myself has some sort of onscreen GUI not this one - I thought per chance (even-though i have hooked up dozens or receivers) that maybe i was confused I figured I would give Samsung tech support a go below is the substance of my chat with them it says all one needs to know START - Chat InformationPlease wait for a Samsung Agent to respond. Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Dennis' Dennis: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung tech support. How can I help you today? John: Hi John: I have a question in regards to my Samsung HW-C700 Dennis: What is your question? John: It doesnt appear to have an onscreen menu or display ipod information onscreen is this supposed to be the case Dennis: Were you able to access the files in the ipod? John: yes the ipod plays fine through the speakers i purchased this because it was 3d ready and my office has a 3d tv the recvr was cheap but it seems outrageous that input source information etc doesnt display on screen so i ask again does it have on screen capability for speaker calibration etc or do you have to use just the front display Dennis: Please hold on as I check for information on this John: im not a novice at this i have a 500k home theater system in my home and recvrs from 199 and up usually display info on screen John: thanks Dennis: How are you connecting the ipod to the home theatre? John: with the supplied cable that comes with the device John: its not just the ipod please read my question does the system have on screen or no ? the manual is garbage Dennis: You want the TV to display the files on the ipod, right? Dennis: I got your question and checking if the home theatre has that feature or not John: yes and if there is a gui for the hwc700 Dennis: Okay. let me check that Dennis: Did you select the home theatre as source on the TV? John: yes only one hdmi cable running to the tv from the hdmi out on the unit John: The manual is rubbish its hooked up correctly i just want to know if i have a faulty unit or did samsung truly make a recvr with no Graphic User Interface Dennis: What if you connect a USB drive or any other device to the mohe theatre. Do you get a display on TV? John: if i switch to to the input source the content from that device displays on the appropriate input John: i can see this isnt going anywhere can you please answer my question gui y/n can you ask someone please Dennis: There is no gui. But the TV should the display the files of the device John: ok thank you im sending it back thanks - END What the hell was that enough said the TV is nice the bluray player is cool - do yourself a favour and purchase the The Rxv667 if your looking for something low cost and efficient What a terrible experience
I found this product to NOT be userfriendly, the quality is great but too dang complicated
I was really hoping the Samsung HW-C700 receiver would work out, but it just has too many user interface problems. I purchased it along with a Samsung BD-C5500 Blu-ray player and connected it to a Samsung DLP using an HDMI cable. The only other input was an older DirecTV box connected with RCA cables. The receiver looks good and sounds good, but unfortunately those are the only positives. It does seem like the receiver was rushed to market without any real testing performed. Here are some of the problems: - The receiver would not remember the previous input setting when powered on and seemed to always default to the TV input. There does not seem to be any way to set the default input to something else. - The receiver does not recognize the TV remote although it does recognize the Blu-ray remote when the player is powered on. It also would not recognize the DirectTV remote. I really wanted to get at least the basic volume and channel functions to work on either the TV or the receiver remote but was not able to make it work. - Whenever the Blu-ray is switched on, the receiver automatically switches to the player and many times would display a message that it was searching for the device. Why would it switch to a device that it can't find? - Had to reassign the sat input on the receiver to analog input repeatedly. It seems like most of the interface problems could easily be solved with a firmware update, but there were no updates to be found on the Samsung website. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers that the Samsung Anynet feature seems to cause more problems than it solves. A receiver at this price should be more compatible with other Samsung components.
Sounds good, but the anynet+ is terrible. Can't turn on the C700 from the television. What was Samsung thinking? They certainly didn't do any testing.
