Sometimes a space in your home or office just won't stay warm. Maybe it's because the heating vents just aren't in the right location. But whatever the reason, blasting the heat throughout the house to keep one area a bit warmer will cost a small fortune. A better alternative is an energy star rated space heater. And that brings us to the Holmes HEH8001-U Energy-Saver 1500-Watt Heater Fan.

This Eco-Smart Power heater uses 25% less energy than comparable models. It runs on a 4-hour timer that automatically shuts the heater off so no worrying about whether you shut the system down when you leave your home or office. It also automatically shuts off if it gets tipped over. And don't let its size fool you. It cycles between 1,000 and 1,500 watts of energy.

Reviews

This product is an average heater, good for a small room but I did not notice a difference in the power use. I think kinda deceptively, the energy savings on this unit is the fact that it shuts off automatically after 4 hours, thus saving you energy, kinda false logic since it's pulling the same as a heater. My point, just buy a heater with a timer, not this unit.

This is a great little heater for work! I really like the safety features--especially how it turns itself off when it is tipped over! I use it as a space heater at work--it's perfect for under a desk!

Sometimes less is more. I had a $55 Vordao unit that I liked but some of the features (switches and knobs) started to break after only a year and a half of use. So I (unwisely) bought a $150 Vornado unit with electronic temperature control thinking that the quality of the more expensive unit would be better. WRONG! That one lasted me about 2 months before the fan just stopped working. So instead of dropping big money on another heater, I went with this unit from Holmes since it had great reviews on Amazon and was only $44. I've had it for 5 months it has worked perfectly so far. It's a little less powerful than the Vornado models I owned, but not by much. I'm in a northern state and use it to keep the family room in my basement warm when in use during the winter, and it definitely gets the job done. It doesn't allow you to adjust the temperature like the Vornados, but I find the temperature of the air that it blows out to be ideal, and you can simply position it further or closer from the area you want it to heat or face it in different directions in order to keep the area at an your desired temperature. It's also much quieter than the Vornados. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I bought this heater thinking it had a temperature switch, it doesn't, that is the disappointing part I am currently working in Afghanistan, in the mountains i live in a tiny room about 6x6 it gets to hot then i have to shut it off, then it gets cold in the room so i have to turn it on again, it really stinks when its 2 or 3am and have to click it on or off, if the room was bigger i think this heater would be ideal. I am still happy i have it!

We chose this model because it seemed an energy-efficient alternative to our previous Holmes spaceheater, which had worn out after several years of use. The one really good aspect of this heater is that it seems very safe -- the moment it is tilted or put against a surface, it stops. However, it does not generate a lot of heat, even on the higher setting. We have a very small bathroom, yet even after running the heater for 30+ minutes, the room is still not what I would consider really warm (admittedly, I'm a person who is easily chilled.) We bought this in November and used it daily, but I was never completely happy with it, and now the heating element is starting to give out and the heater is generating even less warmth. We're definitely shopping around for something with a little more heating power.

Good one, and timely. Do you know if these are available in the UK – can’t find them on amazon.co.uk?
