broan-energy-start-range-hood.jpgBroan has introduced its QDE line of under cabinet range hoods that are the first to earn the Energy Star rating. The QDE series is part of Broan’s ‘Ecoforward’ initiative, and the appliance has received HVI (Home Ventilating Institute) certification and supports requirements for Green Building Programs from USGBC® LEED®, NAHB and ENERGY STAR®. Broan estimates that the QDE Series offers a total lifetime energy savings of 564 kWh over comparable standard models.

Compact fluorescent lighting

One of the ways the QDE series range hood saves energy and money is through the use of cfl bulbs. It uses two 13-watt bulbs for lighting that can last up to 10,000 hours.

Range hood features

In addition to cfl bulbs, the range hood offers the following features:

Silence: The fan motor is enclosed in acoustic insulation, which means that the noise level of the QDE Series Range Hood is less than 1 Sone at normal speed.

Efficiency and performance: The HVI certification means that the air flow (CFM) and noise level (Sone) of the range hoods were measured during and certified during testing carried out in an independent laboratory.

Cleaning:

* Full-size filters are also dishwasher-safe.
* Fully enclosed design prevents greasy build-up in hard to reach areas.
* The blower wheel is easy to remove without tools and is dishwasher-safe.

Warranty: 1 year warranty.
